I studied Psychology at Leeds University and graduated with a first class BSc degree in 1999. I majored in anxiety and the stress response, and then spent 20 years working in the corporate world. Over 15 of those as a senior manager, responsible for department strategy, team management, and internal and external training.
I saw first hand the impact of stress and conflict in the workplace, and the effect they can have – both on specific individuals, physically, mentally and emotionally, and at an organisational level, with the day to day needs of the business derailed, and single individuals affecting their whole team’s overall performance and productivity.
I’ve always needed evidence and facts to convince me – so offer you the same. All of my content is well researched and evidenced, and I present information from a number of different angles, as it helps to embed the learning.
My own experience of stress – both mine and that of my team members, led me to investigate it further for myself, and in addition to my degree, I’ve done much research to keep up to date with latest thinking.
My interest in Gender Diversity stemmed from a curiosity about the disparities between men and women, and why they are treated so differently. My research led me down avenues that led to a much greater understanding of Gender, and of Gender Diversity.
I received a string of requests to offer training on this new topic. So set to work putting together simple and effective training, all rooted in compelling facts, figures and Science.
I have a knack for taking complex topics and breaking them down into smaller chunks that are easier for people to understand. In fact, every job I’ve had since leaving university has resulted in me being chosen to present complicated information to increasingly large groups of people.
I have worked with many clients and organisations over the past decade – with a primary focus on workplace wellbeing. I enjoy sharing the tools, techniques and knowledge I’ve learned and developed, bringing as many people and teams as I can to peace and harmony.
I’m delighted to now be able to offer my services in resolving workplace conflict around Gender Diversity too – enabling organisations to support people with different beliefs to work alongside each other comfortably.
Certain situations and projects can demand a bigger resource, and I’m used to working in association with other consultant practitioners, as well as with other partner organisations and venues. Collaboration can improve delivery options, and enable us to deliver projects in a more timely manner – depending on the size of the project.
For example, I am an Associate Consultant for The Diversity Trust, which provides wider Diversity, Equality and Inclusion training (around race, culture, neurodiversity and age), and have collaborated with many other practitioners for Workplace Wellness delivery, and organisational retreats too.
I value my strong links with third party organisations, and continue to make further important connections.
